Porsche’s 993 was a version of the company’s iconic 911 model, produced between 1993 and 1998. It was the last air-cooled Porsche, and is therefore often described by 911 enthusiasts as the last ‘true’ 911.
Compared to the previous 964, the 993 had wider and flatter front wings, smoother bumpers front and rear, a shorter and higher front luggage compartment lid, and a larger automatically extending rear spoiler. The front headlights were now more obviously sloped, giving the car a much more modern appearance, while the taillights were positioned higher on the body.
Mechanically, improvements included an all-new multi-link rear suspension mounted on an aluminium subframe, six-speed manual transmission, refined optional all-wheel-drive system, larger brakes with drilled discs, revised power steering and a new dual-flow exhaust.
The 993 Carrera RS, standing for ‘Rennsport’ (or ‘Race Sport’ in English), was a lightweight version of the base Carrera, produced in model years 1995 and 1996. It was stripped of anything that could be deemed unnecessary – including the headlight washers, sound proofing and rear seats – meaning around 100kg was shaved off the weight of the Carrera.
Changes on the outside included a non-retractable ‘whale tail’ spoiler and lightweight three-piece 18-inch aluminium ‘speedline’ wheels. Inside, special lightweight racing seats were fitted in the front with simple door cards. The only factory options were an even bigger rear spoiler and roll cage
The RS was never certified for sale to the United States, but was approved for normal street use in many other countries around the world. Only 1,014 were built, and its consequent rarity has ensured an ever-increasing market value.

The timeless 993 is arguably the pinnacle of 911 design, further enhanced in RS form by a perfect blend of angles, aerodynamics and aggression. Resplendent in Speed Yellow, the car sits as quite the unique proposition with original paint depth readings around the car and all of its factory fitted panels ensuring the provenance of this 993 is superb. The colour perfectly suits this road going race car, and after 2 days of detailing it positively shines; dead straight down both flanks and oozing with character and colour.
Factory specified with the large rear wing and front spoiler, as per the Clubsport, looking every bit the iconic Porsche while retaining a more road biased setup.
The lightweight interior features one of the finest road going seats available; the Recaro Pole Position bucket. The backs matching the exterior colour with the seat trimmed in soft black leather and grey inserts.
Having covered minimal mileage the interior finishing is as you’d expect in excellent condition and still smells as new. The carpets are clean and tidy, in excellent order and proudly display the Carrera RS designation in the rear in yellow.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The matching number flat 6, 3.8 litre air cooled engine is tucked neatly into the engine bay and provides ample power for this lightweight Porsche. Presenting in impeccably clean condition the unit remains free of any modification.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 18 inch split-rim Speedline wheels retain their original factory markings and don’t appear to have been refurbished or renovated. Wrapped in premium Bridgestone Potenza sport tyres all round with excellent tread depth. Red Brembo calipers present in pristine condition clamped to drilled disc brakes all round.
This 993 370 Carrera RS was first supplied to Japan and registered in December 1995. Specified from new with the Clubsport front and rear spoilers it retains its original owners pack, spare key and service book along with its Porsche build sheet and options. Believed to have had just 1 owner from new, service history is excellent with 14 service stamps. The owners leather pack with 993 manual and Carrera RS supplement book is present along with Invoices to back up service stamps and work.
UK registered with all taxes and duties paid it is ready to be enjoyed and admired by its new keeper.
